The piano is a starting point.
Ryan’s writing often begins with one instrument and a phrase worth following. He builds the arrangement gradually: a melody played live, notes drawn into a MIDI timeline, a measure heard in the context of the whole piece. Piano, strings and electronic layers become different ways of developing that initial idea.
The music can move from a repeating figure with rhythmic momentum to a more open, score-like composition. His approach favors dynamic range and a sense of progression, with the arrangement changing to serve the piece.
From early recordings to orchestral work.
The early Pombrah projects began with loop arrangements in Acid Pro. Silver Stitches added keyboard parts recorded through a speaker and microphone. With The Last Winter, Ryan moved to Cubase and virtual instruments, composing the parts himself rather than assembling loops.
A dedicated symphonic instrument library opened another direction. Triumph arrived in one sitting and became a turning point in his orchestral writing. The commercially released Pursuit of Happiness followed a broader piano, guitar and electronic direction; Requiem and Orchestrations brings the orchestral body of work into a ten-track 2026 release.
A collaborative studio practice.
Ryan has worked from lyrics, production briefs, visual scenes and conversations with artists, both remotely and in the studio. The work has included beat production, jingles, animation music, orchestral arrangements, recording and vocal mixing.
He also designs the release artwork and edits the music videos. For Magical and Waiting for the Light, composition and visual direction developed into complete films with distinct stories and pacing.
Why publishing became part of it.
Experience in bands led Ryan to study music business and the practical systems behind independent releases. In 2018, he founded Pombrah Music Publishing to connect the creative work with ownership, administration, distribution and a lasting catalog.
